The Holman family purchased the original
property (16 acres, an apartment and a barn) at auction in 1976 and named it Hi
Bid Farm. Much renovation was needed to the structures and the fields. An
outdoor lighted ring was added along with more fenced paddocks. Other parcels
of land were added in due course so that now there are 58 + acres and 9 paddocks.
The horse
shows began in 1978. One unrated fun show. We prepared our own food and
built our own fences. Offered such things as “Dollar bareback” along with
normal classes. Not too many years after we added more shows to the
summer and then affiliated with the Chester County Horse Show Association
so that the Hi Bid Farm series became part of 40 some local horse shows
than run from late March until October every year. The participants
accrue points from each member show towards highly coveted year end awards. Hi Bid runs its
own summer awards competition culminating at the final show.
Hi Bid offers instruction on all levels and actively participates in
rated and unrated shows all year. For information on boarding and
